As you probably know from the volume of blogs we publish concerning Phlegm, we dearly cherish him for his quirky and unassuming illustrations. Now scan your eyes across these two murals, which have been pasted somewhere on the streets of Bantry, Ireland, a town on the coast of County Cork, and let us know your thoughts.

Phlegm delivers here two superb pieces including a giant Submarine Salmon operated by his characters and a giant littering houses which are so small to us that they can only be made visible via a magnifying glass.

Hang-Up Pictures was conceived in early 2008 with the online gallery opening its virtual doors for trading in mid-June. Seven months earlier we had witnessed the big financial crash, subsequent world-wide recession and the continuous onslaught of media doom and gloom still apparent today. We of course feared that it was not the best time to be starting a business but as were confident in our offering we soldiered on regardless and are pleased to say that over the years Hang-Up Pictures has exceeded all expectations.

The team are lucky to work very closely with some fantastically talented artists and galleries and we benefit from strong relationships with a global network of private collectors enabling us to deal in and source the breadth of highly collectible work that we do.

Focusing online has allowed us to build up a truly world-wide client base and we are proud that we regularly ship artworks to repeat clients in all corners of the globe including Argentina, Mexico, Japan, Peru, Russia, Hong Kong, as well as Australia, New Zealand and N. America who represent over 35% of all sales.

It has been a eventful ride but we're happy to have grown to where we are today and to be celebrating our 4th Birthday.

It’s only fitting that Her Majesty’s Diamond Jubilee celebration should have a small contribution from our favourite street artist Banksy. Located on Upper Maudlin St. near the Bristol Children’s Hospital, the recent stencil depicts Queen Elizabeth II in black and white with a colorful red and blue lightning bolt across her face much like David Bowie’s “Aladdin Sane” from the 1970s. The same location was home to two previous works by Banksy – one depicting a sniper and child as well as a work that showed David Cameron and Boris Johnson as rioters.

Mr Brainwash comes to London ahead of the Olympics

Bristol-based Nick Walker has been busy in NYC, he has just completed a new mural on the Lower East Side, a neighborhood in the southeastern part of the New York City, borough of Manhattan.

He has also been leaving his mark around Manhattan with other fresh pieces.

Ben Allen Announces First London Solo Show

Mark June 28 in your diary, folks, because that's the date when Ben Allen's first London solo show Dirty Sexy Money opens its doors to the public.

The Brighton-based artist - behind this Ryan Gosling / Drive print and also this pop art love print and not forgetting this limited edition print released exclusively through us - will be showing 46 stunning new works in this exhibition that are based around today's modern culture.

The works will be available at the end of June and the exhibition will continue onto Boyton Hall Farm in Chelmsford, Essex on July 5 to 28.

Earlier this year we interviewed Ben, who described his new work as:

"Bigger, bolder, braver, skulls, tigers, females, subverted Disney characters, a big solo show in London, t-shirts, new limited editions, plus the unexpected..."

Shepard Fairey Collaborates With Neil Young

Shepard Fairey first showed his admiration for the great musician Neil Young by including a portrait of Young in his 2010 exhibition portraying cultural heroes.

And so it seems Young has returned the favour by inviting Fairey to do a painting that represents each song on Young's new album Americana with Crazy Horse.

According to the NY Times Arts Blog, Fairey was surprised at just how involved Young was in the process, which involved Fairey mocking up several ideas which Young then picked his favourite.

The final works will be shown at a private event next month at the perry Rubenstein gallery in Los Angeles and the paintings will then be available to purchase and may be used in accompanying music videos for the album and/or stage design on Young album tour.

What Were They Thinking? Banksy Street Art Destroyed

A Banksy street work has been destroyed (pictured) by careless drilling for a cafe in Australia's art capital, Melbourne.

As you can see from the picture above, it seems almost unbelievable that the drillers didn't choose to drill just a little to the left or little to the right to avoid drilling through the middle of this artwork.

One can only guess that they were unaware it was street art by the world's most successful and celebrate street artist Banksy.

And, given that they would have had to gain a permit from the council for this demolition, it is surprising the council didn't inform them about the street art - perhaps they were unaware it was a Banksy, too.

According to Melbourne's daily newspaper Herald Sun, this is the third Banksy to be destroyed in Melbourne in the past two years. Vandals damaged one in Fitzroy last August while (allegedly unaware) council workers painted over a Banksy in Hoiser Lane in April 2010.

Considering that Melbourne regards itself and is regarded worldwide as one of the world's great street art capitals, it certainly seems a surprise that more effort isn't put in to preserving (and not continually destroying) such work.

JR and Parla Bring Wrinkles to the City of Havana

JR and Jose Parla have hit the streets of Havana together, putting up these heart-warming street works as part of JR's Wrinkles of the City project.

Parla's intangible and almost ethereal looking calligraphic works gives a nice touch to the Ted Prize winner and French street photographer's candid shots of the older members of the public (certainly not a subject you see often in street art).

This new street art coincides with the 11th Havana Biennial 2012.

See Static Live Printing Tonight In London

Dynamic duo Static will be live printing a limited edition colourway of 25 at Whisper Gallery TONIGHT, Tuesday May 8 between 5-8pm.

The prints will be available for £35 on the night. The live printing at Whisper coincides with their current solo exhibition 'Moments of Clarity', which you can read all about in our interview with the two artists, here.

The exhibition is on until May 26 at Whisper, which is located at 27/28 Eastcastle Street London W1W 8DH.

Banksy's Kissing Coppers Voted Artwork That Best Expresses British Identity

Banksy's bold street artwork of two kissing policemen, painted on the walls of a Brighton pub, has been voted the single best work of art that best expresses British identity as voted in a poll by 1,000 artists, according to the Independent.

Antony Gormley's 1998 sculpture Angel of the North, Lucian Freud's 1995 Benefits Supervisor Sleeping, Jamie Reid's God Save the Queen, Tracey Emin's My Bed and Damien Hirst's The Physical Impossibility of Death in the Mind of Someone Living all rated highly.

The poll was commissioned by The Other Art Fair, which kicks off on Thursday May 10 and runs for four days.
